The movie Osama features a tragically realistic depiction of a society that mistreats women. The slow paced scenes and overall grittiness immerse the viewer and reminds us that stuff like this happens in real life, outside of the movie. I think one of the reasons the movie feels realistic is because it does not feature a traditional movie format. There isn’t really a plot to the movie, there is no hero or villain, and there is nothing particularly “entertaining” about it. All we are left with is a poor girl who is put in a terrible situation and we can’t help but feel helpless towards her predicament.

The movie’s heartbreaking and sickening ending stands out the most to the movie. In my opinion, it is very abrupt and there is no resolution to any of her problems and it leaves Osama in an even worse situation than when the movie started. Like stated earlier, this adds a level of realism and keeps the audience reminded that stuff like this is really happening in the world. Ultimately, Osama is a well made movie that educates the audience and raises awareness. It also is a very sad film and will leave you in a worse mood than when you started the movie.
