Everything went smoothly, but Lola’s moped was stolen. It wouldn’t seem like a big deal. But as a result, Manni left the bag of money from the deal in the subway car, which The Homeless Man most likely took. 100,000 marks in 20 minutes, or Manni is done for.
This is how Run, Lola, Run begins: a brief exposition leading straight into a quick plot trigger — Lola must save Manni. She has twenty minutes to bring him 100,000 marks. Her plan is simple: get the money from her father. But today, everything seems to work against her:
-In the stairwell, some guy with a vicious dog scared her.
-Some guy pestered with his bicycle “for only 50 marks.” The first gun was loaded.
-A car suddenly appeared from the driveway and almost hit her, but she didn’t even notice. Although the driver collided with another car. The second gun was loaded.
-She bumps into a homeless man — someone familiar, though not to her.
-Her father decided today that he no longer wanted anything to do with the family and rejected her because a certain Frau Hansen confessed to him that she was pregnant.
-Construction workers carrying glass across the road slowed her down, as well as an ambulance car.
Each moment seems insignificant, but together they form a chain of consequences. Lola arrives too late, and Manni decides to rob a store. She helps him, but the police surround them, and a stray bullet kills Lola. That didn’t end well.
One more time. 20 minutes, 100 000 marks. But everything is a bit different this time:
-Now the guy with the man with the dog trips her; she falls and runs more slowly. The third gun was loaded.
-The guy with the bike again.
-Car driver again.
-The Homeless Man again.
-This time, because Lola ran longer, Frau Hansen managed to say that the child was not from Lola’s father’s, which caused a quarrel between them. because of that, Father refused Lola’s request more rudely, which led her to rob the bank. The third gun fired
-When construction workers stopped an ambulance, Lola tried to convince the driver to take her along. Distracted by their argument, he shatters the glass that had blocked the road before. The path is now clear.
She managed to bring the money and stopped Manni from robbing the store, but since the ambulance driver now had no obstacle, he ran Manni over. The fourth gun fired. That won’t work either.
One more time. 20 minutes, 100 000 marks. But everything is a bit different this time:|
-This time, the dog only barks, and Lola leaps over it.
-This time, she almost crashed into the bike guy, who didn’t offer her his bike and instead turned aside, where he met The Homeless Man and offered him his bike.
-Lola lands on the hood of a car. The driver appeared to be her father’s colleague. Her fall delays him just enough to prevent a later accident — and he ends up picking up Lola’s father from the bank on time. As a result, Lola never meets her father and instead runs to a casino, where she wins 100,000 marks.
-Lola did not collide with The Homeless Man, because he was riding his bike on a different route.
-Mr. Meier arrived on time, so Lola was unable to ask her father for money. The second gun fired. Because of this, she went to the casino to win the amount she needed.
-Since the homeless man was moving faster, he rode past Manni. As a result, Manni was able to get his money back. The first gun fired.
-This time, the ambulance driver stopped in front of the construction workers again, and Lola took advantage of the moment to jump into the car.
Manni returns it to his boss right before Lola arrives with her winnings. This time, both of them survive. Finally, a happy ending and the end of the loop.
