Prey 2022 is about a young comanche girl called Naru who wants to prove herself as a hunter. the film is about being the hunter or the hunted, and it shows that resistence, survival, and power are not just about strenth, but about being smart, brave, and careful. naru fights back against people who don’t belive in her her tribe, the fur trapers, and even the preditor.
The movie starts with naru hunting alone in the forest. the camra follows her slow, showing her focus and conection to the land. you can see her skill, patiense, and determnation. later, we see her with her brother taabe, which shows teamwork and how she cares for family. in another scene, we see the diffrence between naru and the other women in the tribe she leaves early in the morning to hunt, showing she wants to prove herself and isnt limited by what ppl expect of girls.

the hunting in the movie is diffrent for everyone. the preditor hunts for fun and pride, taking trophies like skulls and other animals, only attacking prey that can fight back. the french fur trapers hunt for money or just cruel fun, with no respect for natur. they trap naru and her brother and use them as bait. the comanche hunt only what they need. their hunting is about survival not dominashun. the movie shows who respects life and nature and who only want control. naru learns from all of it and uses her brains to fight back. The hunters show diffrent types of masculinity. the preditor is strong, quiet, deadly, all about proving power. the trapers show masculinity  cruel, greedy, lazy and they rely on guns and traps. the comanche warriors are brave and skillful but they doubt naru cause she is a girl. naru is not the normal tough guy hero like old predator movies. she wins with creativity, patience and thinking not just muscles. the preditor and trapers both use tech to control but naru uses environment and clever traps to win. this show smart can beat raw power.

naru also challenges hero sterotypes. she is young, small, not muscly, but clever and brave. she throws axes, makes traps, plans moves, survives, and fights back. she is different from usual hollywood indiginous characters. she isnt mystical or just a side charactershe is real, strong, and human. the film empower her. she resists sexism, colonial violence, and the preditor. some western hero ideas stay, like the lone hero, but mostly its about brains and courage.
camera work shows the story too. first, in the opening hunt, the camera moves slow through the forest following naru and showing her focus and connection to the land. the shot pans and tilts a bit as she walks and stops so u see space and height. second, during the bear attack, the camra shakes with handheld closeups and wide shots, quick zooms and angle changes make u feel the panic and danger. third, in the final fight, the camera stays close on naru’s face with tight edits on traps and her moves as she works. naru out smat the preditor by useing its own tech and trick it so it end up dying she uses what it teech her to kill it not the preditor killing itself. also early scene the camera follows her throwing axes with slow pans and closeups on hands and axe showing her growth and practice.

In the end Prey shows survival and power is about intelligence, courage, using what you know and never giving up. naru proves anyone can be hunter not prey. strength is not only muscles or weapons but brains and persistence.
